"I am a grateful patient of Dr. Frances Chen. Although at age 71, I have
retained most of my teeth, I do have very special needs. Dr. Chen worked
closely with me, teaching me how to do my part in maintaining the health of
my teeth and gums.
I first came to Dr. Chen after a fistula developed in my gum near a back
lower molar. That tooth already had a root canal. My original dentist sent
me to an endodontist for a corrective root canal to stop the infection. The
root canal did not solve the problem and my dentist recommended removal of
the tooth. Removing the tooth would take care of the fistula but infection
would still remain in the jaw bone and eventually the upper tooth, having
nothing to counter it, would elongate and can cause interference of the
bite. I was told I could have a tooth implant but that meant more metal in
my mouth, which I do not want.
I went to Dr. Chen, a meticulous and creative professional. She used ozone
therapy to remove the infection inside the tooth and in the jaw bone. Then a
vertical crack was found on one side of the tooth so she cut in half so the
other half of the tooth remains in my mouth. A small partial bridge serves
to maintain the integrity of the right side of my mouth.
That is the story of the first of three teeth, Dr. Chen saved for me. Her
meticulous cleaning technique-for-infections insure rapid healing and her
flexible and nimble problem-solving ideas will extend the life of endangered
teeth. For anyone looking for a holistic dentist that will give your teeth
and body the most attentive and up-to-date care, I highly recommend Dr.
